At R1DE we love high intensity interval training (HIIT). But what is it and why do we talk about it so much? HIIT describes any workout that alternates between intense bursts of activity and rest to give you a R1DE with a difference. Not only do you burn more calories during a HIIT class, you burn more fat and calories in the 24 hours after a HIIT workout. Basically, it delivers big results!
The focus is on pushing yourself to the max (whatever your level) on a sprint or heavy interval, working in your anaerobic zone (you know that place where your heart is racing and you’re breathing heavily). A recent study found that after 8 weeks of doing HIIT workouts, people could bicycle twice as long as they could before the study, while maintaining the same pace.
So how often should you train to get results? We recommend 2-3 classes a week if you’re looking to loose weight or increase your overall fitness levels. Regular HIIT training will deliver on the results it promises, with our members seeing a huge difference in their cardiovascular endurance as well as their waist lines.
